When are the JUPAS and non JUPAS deadlines for medicine?

For 2027 entry, HKU's first non JUPAS round closes on 25 November 2026, JUPAS on 2 December 2026 and CUHK's medicine round on 7 January 2027. Applicants use one route only, never both. For anyone also applying to UK medicine, these dates fall within the twelve weeks that began with the UCAS deadline on 15 October.

Updated 19 October 2026 (3 minute read)

Hong Kong medicine has no single deadline, and the earliest is HKU's first round in November. We run these calendars alongside UCAS for the applicants we work with. These are the dates as the universities publish them for 2027 entry, checked on 19 October 2026. Some are marked provisional, and all of them can change, so check the official page before relying on one.

When does JUPAS close for 2027 entry?

JUPAS, the Joint University Programmes Admissions System for students taking the HKDSE (Hong Kong's school leaving exam), opened on 7 October 2026 and closes on 2 December 2026 at 5pm. The fee is HK$500. A late application window then runs from 4 December 2026 to 13 January 2027, at HK$1,000.

Choices can still change after submission. JUPAS allows changes to programme choices from 4 December 2026 to 26 May 2027 for HK$100 each time, and once more, free, in the days after results. Supporting documents have their own deadlines through the spring, starting with the record of other experiences and achievements on 20 January 2027. HKDSE results are tentatively scheduled for 14 July 2027, and main round offers on 4 August 2027, a date JUPAS marks "Subject to change".

When is the HKU non JUPAS deadline for medicine?

Non JUPAS is the route for applicants whose qualifications are not the current HKDSE, such as A levels or the IB. For the six year MBBS at the University of Hong Kong, the medicine admissions page sets first round evaluation for applications submitted by noon on 25 November 2026, and lists the later round deadlines as "tbc". HKU's general guide lets applications run to 25 August 2027. The same medicine page sets 1 December 2026 for predicted grades and references from current A level and IB students.

That page also says the UCAT is optional for 2027 entry and required for 2028 entry. Applicants without a result for 2027 "will not be disadvantaged".

When is the CUHK non JUPAS deadline for medicine?

The Chinese University of Hong Kong opened its non JUPAS applications on 2 October 2026, and the regular round closes on 7 January 2027 at 11:59pm. Two rules differ for medicine. CUHK's advance offer round, an early round of offers, "is not applicable to the Medicine programme", and neither is its extended deadline. Later applications are considered only if places remain. Successful applicants hear between February and August 2027.

Can I apply through JUPAS and non JUPAS at once?

No. JUPAS says applicants must not apply via both routes for any programme available under JUPAS in the same year, and HKU allows "only one application through any one of the schemes" per cycle. CUHK's medicine FAQ says applicants choose JUPAS or non JUPAS "according to their academic qualifications", and never both.

How do the Hong Kong dates fit with UCAS?

They overlap. An applicant who also applied to UK medicine had to meet the UCAS deadline on 15 October 2026. After that come HKU's first round on 25 November, JUPAS and the HKU predicted grades deadline in early December, and CUHK on 7 January. Each university has its own forms and its own personal statement.

Nothing on the official pages says how a UCAS application interacts with the Hong Kong rules, and we do not assume either way. What we plan for is the workload: two admissions systems and separate personal statements for UCAS, HKU and CUHK, all inside about twelve weeks.

How does AlphaMED support Hong Kong applications?

Both of our founders went through HKU and CUHK admissions themselves and received offers with scholarships from both, including full scholarships at CUHK. Our Hong Kong Application programme covers the HKU personal statement, two CUHK personal statements, interview preparation for HKU, CUHK and non JUPAS, and course selection, in English, Cantonese or Mandarin.

Applicants applying in the UK as well choose Integrated. One named mentor runs UCAS and JUPAS in parallel across the whole cycle, so neither application eats into the other.
