A100 and medicine course codes
A UCAS course code identifies one course at one university. A100 is the code for the standard medicine degree at many UK medical schools, and other codes, such as A101 and A108, mark graduate, gateway or other variant courses.
Summary
- Southampton lists its five year medicine degree under UCAS course code A100, and its page says a graduate may be able to apply for its four year course instead.
- The Medical Schools Council lists Nottingham's five year course as A100, Standard Entry Medicine.
- Manchester uses A101 for its four year graduate entry course, which asks for a 2:1 honours degree in a relevant field and the UCAT.
- Sheffield also uses A101 for graduate entry, but its places are only for home students who meet its widening participation criteria. The same code can carry different entry rules, so check each university's own listing.
- Bristol uses A108 for a six year Gateway to Medicine course, which starts with a gateway year for students who do not meet the standard academic entry criteria, and then joins the five year course.
