Team based learning
TBL
Team based learning, or TBL, is a teaching method in which students take a test alone, then the same test as a team, and then apply what they learned to a problem.
Summary
- Each session starts with an individual test of 5 to 20 multiple choice questions, taken before any team discussion.
- Students then take the same test as a team, and every member of a team receives the same team score.
- The rest of the session goes on application exercises, in which teams must agree on the best answer from the options given.
- The method runs as a three step cycle: students prepare before class, sit the two tests, then work through the exercises.
