Spiral curriculum
A spiral curriculum teaches the same core topics more than once during a medical degree, each time in more depth.
Summary
- Dundee describes its course as a spiral curriculum, in which students revisit core concepts and skills with increasing depth each year.
- Keele describes its course as a spiral, highly integrated curriculum, so the two ideas can sit in one course.
- At Keele, students revisit core topics and build on what they already know as they progress.
- Dundee also has placements based in general practice throughout its early years, so patient contact can start early in a spiral course.
