JUPAS vs non JUPAS
JUPAS is for applicants using current HKDSE results. Non JUPAS is for everyone else, such as applicants with the IB, A levels or past HKDSE results, who apply directly to each university.
Summary
- The Joint University Programmes Admissions System covers programmes at nine participating institutions in one application.
- Applicants in JUPAS rank their programme choices in order of preference, with between one and 20 choices.
- Non JUPAS applicants apply to each university directly. HKU asks candidates with international or overseas qualifications to apply for medicine through its Non JUPAS Admissions Scheme.
- HKU says a local candidate can submit only one application for admission through either JUPAS or non JUPAS in an admissions exercise.
- The JUPAS site sets out the scheme's own eligibility rules, and CUHK publishes its non JUPAS rules on its admissions site.
- Our [non JUPAS guide](/Resources/applying/non-jupas) covers the HKU and CUHK routes in more detail.
